Should you record your pick-ups?

Most of you who have read my review of Master the Vibe know what a great resource I believe the audio provides. The huge benefit of listening to Christian Hudson and friends pick up women is that you get to see all those tools you’ve learned in action. On each audio you get dozens of examples of great conversations. I truly believe that for anyone that doesn’t understand how to move from opening a woman, to building attraction, and then comfort, this is one of the best programs out there to demonstrate this.

But I want to take it one step further. I think that everyone one of you who is serious about improving your conversations with women (and people in general) should not only be listening to Master the Vibe, but you should be out there recording your own conversations. The combination of listening to their conversations and then comparing theirs to your own in priceless in helping you understand how you can better your pick-ups.

digital voice recorderI first bought a digital voice recorder and microphone a few years ago when I was struggling in a new sales job. One of the top salesman let me sit in on his pitch to a client. I then made a similar pitch to another client and recorded it. (which is only illegal if you get caught!) When I listened to my failed pitch I was able to notice several of my major flaws. My tonality was horrible which made me appear unsure of myself. This presents a lack of confidence. A lack of confidence shows that you don’t believe in what you’re selling. If you don’t believe in it, neither will the customer. This whole theme transcends sales and is exactly the same in picking up girls. One little thing like bad tonality can be crushing your chances with women.

The first night I brought a voice recorder out with me for picking up women was on Cinco de Mayo three years ago. Listening to my conversations (which got significantly less coherent as the night went on) presented a huge learning device for me. While my tonality was now right, I was able to see that my cocky/funny was coming off more cocky than funny. It wasn’t until I listened to myself delivering the lines that I was able to see why I wasn’t getting the reactions I thought I should be.

microphoneI highly recommend getting a digital voice recorder and microphone (you won’t be able to hear well without the microphone) and bringing it out with you on nights you intend on picking up women. This one little thing can make all the difference. I also recommend listening to the pickups on Master the Vibe and comparing on contrasting their conversations with your own. You’ll be able to see any potential difference that may be causing you not to be achieving the results that they are.

Good recommendatin. I would advise that you take off the microphone BEFORE you physically escalate!

Yes.. good point Scott, you definately want to get rid of the mircophone once you sense that escalation has begun.

When i used to bring the recorder out i never used a mic. but the sound was always horrible. if you’re doing it to study your conversations you need the mic.

i once woke up next to a girl who was playing my little recorder listening to all my conversations from the night. This was back in college and i told her i was writing a paper on social dynamics, but it wasn’t a pleasant story!! Needless to say it was the last time i was in bed with her.

moral is. be careful with this. it is a great learning tool.. but dont over due it… and dont press your luck!

I like it! Any model recommendations? most affordable? best features? LOL I like the “social dynamics project” excuse.

    Mike,

The recorder i link to in the post is the one I have (pretty cheap compared to most).. works great. I never bought a microphone but to do it right, you’ll need one. my sound was always hard to hear. I link to a cheap mic in the post…

Master the vibe sent me some more copies to review… and im really liking it. Its a great way to learn listening to recorded conversations. Listening to your own is even better.

I just recorded some conversations with women today for the first time.

I paid about $27 for my mic and immediately tested things out.

I recommend EVERYBODY to record their conversations and approaches, especially if you are just beginning. It’ll definitely help. I was able to point out a lot of things I did wrong, such as my tonality.

By some advice: make sure you clip the mic in a position where you are able to catch the girls voices as well as your own. A lot of the times when I went back to listen to my pick-ups, I wasn’t able to hear the women.

I’m still trying to solve this problem, but maybe in your pocket or belt facing upwards would help.
