10 Steps for Bulking Up for Summer...

103727main_bodybuilder.jpgYesterday I wrote about how to shed unwanted pounds before the summer. Once you’ve gotten rid of some of that weight its time to start putting the right kind of weight back on.. muscle weight.

I just wanted to give you guys 10 good tips for bulking up, without using the Roger Clemens method… (although that works :)

10 Steps for Bulking up for Summer

1. Keep increasing the amount of weight you are lifting. In order to build muscle you have to subject your muscles to sufficient stress. Once you’re muscles become comfortable at one level… you have to take it to the next.

2. Protein, Protein, Protein. If you’re lifting regularly you need to be getting adequate protein. Try to eat chicken breast, fish, and turkey. If you’re going to take a supplement Whey protein powder is the best for bulking up.

3. Get enough sleep. When you’re training hard it is really important that you give your body time to properly recover. Sleep not only gives you that recovery time, but it also aids in proper protein synthesis, and manfucturing testosterone and growth hormone.

4. Stay Positive. You’re not going to see results over night. But be determined and focused and they will undoubtedly come. Try to work out with people who are as serious as you about it. Working out with a slacker will make you slack.

5. Manage Stress. Stress is completely destructive to all areas of your body… including your muscles. You need to manage stress through adequate sleep, deep breathing meditation, positive attitude, and goal setting.

6. Cardio. Aerobics will enhance, not only the metabolisms ability to burn fat, but also the removal of waste products (lactic acid) and the transport of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles where they are used to good effect - to build them bigger and stronger.

7. Get your essential fats. Some fats are necessary. Omega 3 and Omega 6 are definitely an essential part of your diet. You can get these in fishes like salmon… I also put a little flaxeed oil in my shakes.

8. Don’t over train. Like I said when talking about sleep, you muscles need time to recover. The point of lifting is to stress the muscle so it grows back stronger… but it needs that rest time before being stressed again. Try to work out five days a week or less.

9. Take Supplements. I am the supplement king… probably take more than I need, but when you’re working out your body is using a lot more than normal. Some good supplements I’ve seen results with are NO2, Creatine, amino acids, glutamine, whey protein, and multi vitamins. (see bodybuilding.com for all your needs)

10. Follow a good tested routine. Use a proven routine that works. Don’t just go to the gym and wing it. There are plenty of systems out there created by bodybuilders who have seen results. You’re much better off following one of theirs than trying to make up your own.

Brad, of Angel Eyes… recently put out a program for creating the body of a greek god.. Its called The Adonis Effect.. you might want to check it out.

DO NOT TAKE CREATINE. That is one of the worst substances for you. It destroys your kidneys and in some cases have skrunken peoples dicks. Not good for a PUA, lol.

Um Zeo,Nothing will shrink or grow your penis after puberty. Creatine certainly wont, it is found naturally in alot of foods. Supplementation of creatine will not adversely effect your health or your penis. Steroids dont even effect your penis, they shrink your TESTICLES. Because you are artificially introducing testosterone into your body, your body doesnt need to produce testosterone on its own, thus your testicles atrophy.

Well Zeo…When I first started working out, I used to take creatine with no side effects. I mean, for those that do want to take it…I must say that you will not bulk up. From what i know, your body develops creatine naturally…this helps your muscles to soak up water faster. I stopped taking it because I moved on to proteins…and I stopped taking that as well, lol. I realized that I don’t want to bulk up…I just want to be fit and in shape…umm…I guess kind of like Matthew McConaughey…not too big, but in shape

OMG noobs CREATINE WORKS FOR SOME AND FOR OTHERS IT DOESN’T. All creatine is: is 3 kinds of protien compressed. Creatine fuvking up you r kidney is almost a myth. There is like 1 % of the people who fuk up there kidney because they don’t drink water and don’t work out.

Creatine is required for building muscle mass so creatine supplements will work if you have a deficiancy in your diet which is unlikely - also its useless without the correct amino acids which are also available in supplement form - it may help some people who dont get enough in their diet. As regards to negative side effects - there have been many reports of these with various degrees of seriousness and there have been counter reports saying that it is absolutely fine. No one really knows because like every health product under the sun, reports are written by those who have their own agendas - so make up your own mind and consume at your own risk. Many people also say milk is mucus forming and leeds to illness due to the pasturisation process - sounds fucked up but for all we know its true.

damn, i really wanted to stay out of this because everyone has their own advice about nutrition and bulking up. - but PLEASE, when you eat those proteins you need carbs and fat, too. all the protein in the world wont help you build muscle if you are using it for energy - and you WILL use it for energy if you dont have enough carbs.
you want to eat in a way that makes you burn the carbs for energy, and store the protein for building. but the way most guys do it is ass-backward.
and get your damned sleep!!! thats when the magic happens.

Ha… thanks for the plug, Bobby… I love this site.

Guys, creatine is the most tested and researched supplement on the planet.  They give it to AIDS patients to help reduce muscle loss.  Also, if you break a bone… if you take creatine… it’s a proven fact that your muscle will return to normal OVER TWICE AS FAST.

The only bad thing about creatine is that… because it’s a salt… it tends to cause some bloating and unfortunate effects in your stool if you don’t have a "transporter" to get it out of your stomach and into your bloodstream fairly quickly.

That’s why you see people taking creatine with fruit juices to increase uptake.

Also, keep this in mind while you’re working out for the summer… your body LOOKS exactly the way it’s supposed to PERFORM.  Think about that the next time you bullshit your way through your training.

(and don’t think that women don’t notice… it seems that every freakin’ myspace or facebook pic I see of women in the summer are with guys who’s bodies look great)

Oh… and the most important "tip" that Bobby brought up… staying positive.
It’s all about mindset.  Period.  That’s where you win or lose.
As an aside, the guys that actually created the Adonis Effect that I’m partnered with just found some research that states that the Alpha in a givensituation can actually cause the testosterone levels in the men around them to LOWER… thereby increasing their "alphaness".
Now that’s just crazy.  I’ll share more with Mike and Bobby when my guys finish up the research…

Its good to finally see something like this that hasn’t appeared in my spam folder.I think it’s important to say that everyone is different. Some need more exercise, it’s harder for some to put on weight (like me) so exercise caution. And no steroids!
I’ve always been a twig and I would say it’s only affected my success very slightly. Maybe more in the stamina department if you know what I mean.
