There is a special place in my heart for indie hipster chicks. Aficionados of all things trendy it appears the green is the new black. Here’s a couple things I’ve come across in my travels…

Recycled Beer Bottles:

il_fullxfull_21884298.jpgI’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but that beer bottle collection that you’ve been holding on to since you lived in the dorms isn’t impressing anyone. The Bottle Bottoms store over at Etsy.com has a wide selection of glasses made from recycled beer bottles. If you really want to hold on to your collection, Bottle Bottoms can also work with your special bottles.

Re-Purposed Street Signs:

walkchair.jpgPersonally I’ll add this to the “When I win the lottery” folder, but check out uncommon goods Road Tested Chair. Hand crafted by artists no ones ever heard of (By handcrafted I assume they mean stolen off the street and bolted together), these NYC “Walk/Don’t Walk” signs are the real McCoy and actually work. Don’t want yours fresh with NYC grime? A fresh coat of paint is included.

Organic Cotton Sneakers:

Organic ShoeMight as well start wearing green as well. Saks Fifth Avenue has a pretty nify collection of environmentally friendly shoes. Made from hemp, organic cotton and recycled car tires, they look pretty sharp and won’t empty your wallet.

I’ve always been eco conscious I guess, but I don’t think buying a chair made out of stop signs is really going to help the ozone as much as getting rid of the gas guzzling SUV that seats 20 ppl and takes up the enitre roadway, IMO.

i know what you mean, zeo.  what i really want to see is the recycling trucks come as often as trash trucks.  the way its set up now, its a huge pain to recycle. but if they came twice a week and picked it up for me, i would take the time to separate it.

    -and that chair is …ugh.
