Impressing a lady on a first date requires a few things: charm, manners and a sharp outfit.
The first one you’re pretty much born with, the second is easily learned, and the latter is where I come in.
Appropriate date wear depends on location. A safe location to wine and dine your chippy is a hip restaurant… just be sure they don’t play loud dance beats while your eating. Another good option would be a wine bar or a location of her choice.
For a nicer restaurant or bar you will want to dress nice but not dressy. Stylish, modern masculinity is the look you want to achieve. This grey button down from Style Rocket is a great choice. The graphics on it are unique and stylish without being too trendy while the fit is modern.
Obviously you will not be tucking this shirt in, so you will pair it with some modern jeans like this Howe pair in indigo
(style rocket). The dark wash and clean lines scream up-to-date man. You will want to steer clear of any denim with jewels, rhinestones and large doodles or loud brands. Stay away from over -styling pieces and trendy crap.
For your feet, strap on a pair of edgy boots. These Guess boots from Amazon.com are perfect for your lady to play footsies with under the table. The last part of your outfit would be a simple belt and nothing else.
Girls love an uncomplicated look on a man so avoid any outlandish trimmings like a bunch of layers, accessories, patterns and jewelry; hence the obsession with George Clooney and Brad Pitt. They are the epitome of simple man style. Besides it’s a lot easier to get a fella out of his clothes when there are not a lot of bells and whistles attached.

I like the fashion advice and the clothes Vanessa presented are cool. Does anyone take issue with the peripheral advice here? For example, are any of the other readers taking girls to fancy dinners on a first date? What about her picking the location, that’s a big no-no in my book. I know those details are a bit off topic for a fashion article, but I wanted to point that out.

Hopefully guys aren’t taking girls to dinner… but i believe there are still plenty of guys who are.
I’m taking Vanessa’s articles strictly for her good fashion sense.. not her dating advice.
