With summer heating us up it can be more difficult to look fashionable simply because you don’t want to wear much. I recently got back from Europe and I decided a key factor in the high style quotient is the weather. The layering of vests, blazers, scarves and coats… well, that just looks good.

Solution to high style in warm weather? Instead of looking fabulous through unique combinations of clothing, simply choose different and unique pieces. You can keep the shirt and shorts, but instead of that old tee and cargos try this blue cowboy inspired button down from Style Rocket and this orange and blue plaid shorts from Pac Sun.

Another unique shirt you can snag for your summer wardrobe is this hooded checkered button snap top from Pac Sun. Don’t be scared to pair this with Pac Sun’s striped fedora. It’s in the same color palette so it will look great while keeping some sun off your face. As a reminder, it is outdated to have a matchy matchy outfit. You want to mix patterns and colors for a current look.

With the hat and the shirt being so loud you will want to tame down the rest of your outfit with simple, but interesting shoes and bottoms. I would recommend these longish Gypsy shorts from Style Rocket and the grey Steve Madden’s Jakson kicks from Shoes.com.

Notice how I did not recommend skater or puffy shoes. If you skate, by all means strap on those goodies, but if you do not skate or are not skating at the moment, it is more modern to wear sleek casual shoes like loafers, converse style or these athletic shoes by Diesel pictured here.

Other things you can use to spice up your outfit is to try the summer scarf, a necklace or a fun watch. Amazon.com has an inexpensive version of the popular Kafiyha scarf that has stormed the runways and streets. I also enjoyed Style Rocket’s richly colored “love kills love” scarf by Ed Hardy, but I understand if a scarf aint your thing.

For a necklace my favorite at Style Rocket was the bullet necklace in silver. Perfect for the masculine, but stylish man. As for a watch, I am loving the thick leather wristband watch. Style Rocket has an assortment of Ed Hardy leather watches, but stay away from the cartoony ones. My favorite is the eagle watch.

Whatever you choose, just think unique.

That fedora is kick ass but that site doesn’t ship to Canada and I can’t find an equally stylish one from any stores that do. Has anybody solved this problem for us Canadians?

By the way, if you need inspiration to go out and get a fedora check this out: ;)

White and Linen are also awesome in the summer. Experiment with white and cream colored blazers and pants (but don’t wear them together). Also some white kicks complete the look. Taking care of them is a bitch though. I keep all my shoes in the boxes I bought them in now. Is that a black thing? Black guys take awesome care of their shoes. If you can pull it off, a white belt with white shoes is bold.

These are the ones that I wear:

Definitely agree on the white or linen blazer, as long as there’s no lining it’ll be relatively cool.
